Meet Nicola Martin

- Survivor of ME/CFS, chronic pain and burnout -

Firstly, let me say that your fatigue is real, your pain is real. You are not lazy and you are not making things up. I believe that coaching can help you improve your experiences of your situation; your mind needs to heal for your body to heal too. 

Having experienced workplace burnout, chronic pain and chronic fatigue (ME/CFS), I set out to make sure that no one else had to go through that. The loss of self-identity and purpose in life shook me to my core and it has taken years of reflection, study and acceptance to get to the point where I feel that I have my life back. ​

My experiences with fatigue, stress and pain have changed me. Fundamentally I am still me, but my experiences have changed my approach to situations and my outlook on life. These changes have been gradual and at times painful, but (for me) ultimately positive!

My refuge is to be out in nature, usually with my dog. I have always been a homebody and this hasn't changed. My home is my calm space filled with people and things that give me joy and peace. 

My work background is largely linked by teaching and education. I am endlessly curious about the world and love learning. A good murder mystery is never far away and the joy of a Bollywood movie will never lose its lustre!

Online 1-2-1 sessions are the most typical form of coaching/mentoring. Times are often out of work hours to make this support available without having to sacrifice any working hours. 

Coaching/Mentoring aims to get your mind to a place where you feel confident to start making effective physical changes in daily life. 

Workplace sessions would focus on:

  • Improving 360 communication.

  • Facilitating improved teamwork using inter-generational understanding, conflict management, and improved emotion management.

  • Effective goal setting, time-management and stress-management.
